Understanding the Record Time Value in Accelerometer Data

Hello,

I am testing some elements of accelerometer and when it records or starts recording if Ethica is force closed and then reopened. I am running into some odd times in the record time label though. I was testing it this morning (July 6 2020 around 8:45:00 AM). After testing I pushed all my data to Ethica and then did a data export for accelerometer data. The records I found are around 2020-07-06T14:46:45.361000+0000 or a time after this. Where is this time coming from? This says it is 2 PM, but that is definitely not the case as it hasn’t even hit 2 PM here yet.

Can someone help me understand what is going on here? Is this a common occurrence with the data collected by Ethica to have the wrong timestamp? Maybe the study is set up wrong (this is for study 1232)? I can’t find a timezone associated with it either, so I am not sure if that is the problem.

Thank you in advance!

It looks like the minutes are correct - so it is just the hour that is off. I am thinking the study is set up wrong, but I am not sure what to change to fix this weird time difference.

Hi @jen917

You are in timezone -0600 (6 hours behind UTC). The exported data all have UTC timezone, as it’s raw data. The time you got was the following:

2020-07-06T14:46:45.361000+0000

i.e. Jul. 6th 2020, 14:46:45.361 +0000, which is Jul. 6th 2020, 08:46:45.361 -0600, which is the time you were doing the test. Right?

So the timestamps are correct. You just have to incorporate the timezone to it as well.

Gotcha! Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. Is this the case with all data exported from Ethica?

Thank you again for your assistance though.
